Considering the focus of the Mega Food Park towards perishables, a 5000 MT cold store has been proposed at the CPC. The proposed cold storage shall be a multi chamber i commodity facility.The facility shall be used for Mangoes,Citrus,Papaya,Grapes,Guava,Beans,Carrot,Spices and pulses which are produced in large quantities in the region.Cold storage shall enhance the shelf life of the produce and reduce losses.The envisaged cold storage facility shall cater to the investors in the unit as well as farmers who would like to store their perishables.Since the catchment area has a wide variety of perishables,the cold store shall be utilized through out the year.
1 warehouses of 80,000 Sqft each have been proposed for the CPC.The warehouse shall be used to store cereals and pulses by farmers,traders and processors.Further,the storage will be utilized by the companies for keeping their non perishable finished products.
Four silos of 2500 MT each have been proposed at the CPC location.Considering the fact that state is deficient in production of wheat,the proposed facility will be used to store wheat grains which will be used to store wheat grains which will be outsourced from other states.The silo structure shall ensure year round availability of the grain to the potential processing units who wish to process wheat to make value added products.
Bananas are produced in huge quantities in the state of Andhra Pradesh .The catchment area considered for the Mega food park produces around 35% of the banana production of the state.The ripening chamber shall be operational for around 300 days as bananas are available year round in the state.
